The Avon Grove High School HACK Club Drone Team hosted a drone camp this summer at the Chester County Intermediate Unit in Downingtown, PA.

At the beginning of August, Avon Grove High School’s HACK Club Drone Team partnered with the Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU) to deliver the first ever all abilities drone camp at the CCIU in Downingtown. The end goal of the camp was for all students to fly their drone in a competition similar to the REC Foundation Aerial Drones World Championship that the AGHS Drone Team competed in this past May in Texas. The competition consisted of a programming challenge, a skills challenge, and an overall team challenge. The participants worked with their teams to build their Parrot Mambo Drones. After the drones were fully assembled the learners learned how to fly them using either a remote controller or the Parrott Mini app. The campers also had the opportunity to work with the high school drone team volunteers to measure and build the obstacle course for the competition on the final day. The students received awards for: skills challenge, most points, etc. The AGHS Drone Team and CCIU plan to hold the camp again next summer. We will post a link to the registration when it is available later in the school year. In the meantime, come out to Avon Grove HS in West Grove, PA on September 25, 2022 to meet the AG HS Drone team and learn more about their program or how to start a program at your school this year!
